Circular office exit for SoundCloud’s Berlin headquarters

Moving out of its Berlin headquarters, SoundCloud faced the challenge of keeping its existing office furniture in circulation as completely as possible — while delivering a structured office exit under time pressure. Fenyx helped the company keep the existing furniture in sustainable use instead of disposing of it. Through a combination of an Fenyx Shop, the buyback of selected pieces and handover to the incoming tenant, the entire office furnishing was able to stay in use.

Circular exit

A sustainable office exit under time pressure

As part of a change of location, SoundCloud moved out of its Berlin office. The aim was to keep the existing office furniture in use as completely as possible and so deliver a conventional office move without disposing of any furniture. Fenyx developed a structured exit concept that combined several reuse routes and coordinated the entire process.

An Fenyx Shop as part of the circular solution

A central element of the project was organising an Fenyx Shop, through which parts of the office furnishing were passed directly to employees. High-quality pieces stayed in use, and the handover process was simple and transparent.

Reuse instead of disposal

Fenyx also bought back around 100 premium task chairs and arranged for further furniture to be handed over to the incoming tenant. Combining the Fenyx Shop, buyback and handover meant the entire office furnishing stayed in use. One particular aspect of the project: SoundCloud donated the proceeds from the Fenyx Shop to a social cause. As the SoundCloud team itself puts it: “The communication with Fenyx was quick and queries were answered comprehensively. They showed flexibility and creativity in finding a solution that was right-sized and appropriate for our specific needs during our move.”
